The Failure at God School

Nagi’s normal! Gods are supposed to give girls like her divine aid, not invitations to the most prestigious magic academy in Japan!! Modern life means modern solutions, even to supernatural problems. So of course the government would have a classification system, special schools, and licenses for people with mysterious powers—any manifestation of a miracle is enough to be called a Himiko, but only those with full certification may use the title of God. And high schooler Nagi is in serious need of a god! The death of her grandmother has left her family shrine devoid of the necessary divinity, and her hopelessly shut-in Himiko brother doesn’t look promising. But if Nagi isn’t careful, her search for a god might end with her finding more than she bargained for…

Magic powers, high school drama, romance, and intrigue! What more could you ask for?! Nagi’s an ordinary girl in an ordinary world — except, you know, for the people who have superpowers and can apply to become a god! And somehow this seemingly normal girl has found herself at a school for training would-be gods! Freshmen have to team up for a wilderness survival camp where supernatural abilities are flying left and right. Nagi, whose powers are still unknown, shows her appreciation for her team the best way an outdoorsy, small-town girl can—by foraging for food! But that brings her face-to-face with a soaked Tsukuyomi in the middle of a divine purification ritual…! And there are more trials to come, like finding the truth behind her teammate Touta’s stubborn refusal to display his powers…

The truth of Nagi’s “shut-in” brother finally comes to light! But is Nagi strong enough to keep her eyes open and see it? The outdoor‑survival orientation is over at last, and Nagi can breathe a sigh of relief…or can she?! Because midterms are just around the corner, and most of the classes are all Greek (or, well, ancient, ritual Japanese) to her! Maybe Touta can help with that, given his curve-busting grades— if he doesn’t freak out, scream something about a “curse doll,” and rip the head off her brother’s plushie first!! Touta’s sharp mind and X-ray vision might be more trouble than they’re worth, because family drama and mystical intrigue were not on Nagi’s agenda…especially with her grades— and her survival at the academy—on the line!

It’s time for all the first-years to pick a mentor for their divine powers, but Nagi hasn’t even found her power yet. What’s she supposed to do? Meanwhile, Tsukuyomi and Hoshino are on the run from the horde of students who want Tsukuyomi as their mentor. When the three bump into each other, a lightbulb goes on over Hoshino’s head…!
