In search of a fourth member for the club, Mogari, Eugene, and new recruit Kaoru Kanzaki set their sights on Kotaro Tamon, a classmate who seems to be able to talk to ghosts. Unfortunately, Kotaro’s got some major problems communicating with living humans! Will Kotaro be able to overcome his anxiety and join the Phantom Busters?
Wanting to start their club activities in earnest, the Phantom Busters plan to post flyers around the school to advertise the exorcism services they provide, but first they have to get the idea past the student council president, who is a stone-cold nonbeliever! Meanwhile, the assassin dispatched from Mount Shishikuno to kill Mogari makes his way to town…
From karaoke battles with ghosts to run-ins with the student council, there’s never a dull day in the lives of the Phantom Busters! But when they discover that Kanzaki is struggling with a certain hangup concerning his psychic abilities, the crew decides to hold a sleepover to help him open up to them!
The Phantom Busters need to find an advisor ASAP or risk being absorbed into their school’s paranormal investigation club! After searching with little success, Mogari and crew happen upon a glimmer of hope in the form of a newly appointed edgelord teacher rumored to have once saved the world!
The gang is approached by superstud sorcerer Botan Kadenokoji, and he does not come in peace! Botan makes Mogari absorb a number of vengeful spirits into his body, spirits that latch on to the darkness lurking in Mogari’s heart and in his past…
