Dara-san of Reiwa

Clouds blacken the sky and sheets of rain turn the mountain forest into a treacherous maze…A landslide crushes a razor wire fence and buries a “NO TRESPASSING” sign…As two young siblings venture into a dark world to which they do not belong, a long, horrid shadow rears up to meet them, and— “Look, I’m a malevolent deity, okay?! Aren’t you kids gonna freak out about my monstrous visage?!” Anyway, so that’s how we met Dara-san! She might look kinda scary, but just wait until you get to know her!

Two young children stand before the veil of life and death, and a many-armed terror opens a breach, stretches wide its many-fanged maw…and invites them in for a sleepover! And that’s not all, folks! Dara-san’s gonna have some fun in the sun at summer festivals, try toy-model making, and more! Somehow, an unknowable horror from beyond the black woods of untold history has ended up as the straight man in this silly spookfest!

These children have inherited the burden of their lineage—a duty to pacify a malevolent deity, horrible beyond all mortal reckoning. And as they grow, they shall come to know how that terror’s influence has shaped the life of their own mother… But who cares about that—good ole Dara-san’s nice enough these days! I mean, look, she’s busy trying to come up with a way to pay the kids back for all the offerings they’ve been bringing her!
