Desperate for answers about her friend’s disappearance, Waka breaches the Tokyo danger zone in search of clues. Instead, she finds Tokinaga, a researcher with the Anti-God Scientific Research Institute. While Waka tries to decide if she should trust Tokinaga, he quickly realizes Waka is hiding a dangerous secret of her own—one that may just be the key to killing off the gods once and for all.
After Waka’s frightening display of power, Tokinaga has no choice but to sedate her and bring her back to the Anti-God Research Institute for questioning. Waka claims she’s sworn to kill the gods, but with eyes like hers, how can she possibly be trusted? As it turns out, Waka’s not the only one with secrets. The institute has been developing their own weapons against the gods, and unless Waka can hold her own against them, she may not survive long enough to prove she’s telling the truth.
Just as Waka is getting her bearings with the Anti-God Research Institute, she and the other researchers are attacked by a massive snake god and Waka is abducted! Dragged away by disciples of the gods, she finds out that there’s an actual god living inside of her—one she has absolutely no control over. Meanwhile, Tokinaga is drowning in guilt over a number of lives that were lost in the attack. His housemate Obikawa does his best to encourage him, but Tokinaga starts to question what he’s even doing with the institute at all…
Waka swore to slay the gods, which makes learning of the god living inside her all the more disturbing. Meanwhile, the snake god who kidnapped Yoriko and took the form of her fiancé, Minami, has begun drawing the attention of the other gods. With all eyes now on him and the institute, what fresh horrors will the gods’ newfound scrutiny spell for the human researchers?
Waka finally makes a break for it after being kidnapped by the god Volov, but just as her freedom is within reach, Alura stops her dead in her tracks. Meanwhile, Volov begs his former best friend Obikawa for help, though after struggling with his addiction for so long, he may already be beyond saving.
After Tokinaga strikes a desperate deal with the god Alura to save Waka’s life, Waka is ordered to return home by the Anti-God Institute. But now that Alura knows Tokinaga’s secret, Waka is about to get caught between these two in a way she never imagined possible.
Tokinaga’s condition continues to worsen by the day, and there’s nothing doctors can do for him. But when Tokinaga realizes Obikawa can create the medicine he needs, will Obikawa's new drug finally cure him? Or will Tokinaga find himself slipping down the same path of addiction as Volov?
Tokinaga has managed to protect the people around him with his mysterious ability, but that ability comes at a grave cost. So when Wauke decides to attack the Anti-God Research Institute itself, will Tokinaga be able to save the day once again? Or will he end up pushing himself past the point of no return?
