A Star Brighter than the Sun

Sae and Koki have been friends since childhood. One fateful day at the end of middle school, she has a revelation: Koki has grown up! Now they’re in high school, and she has another revelation: she has feelings for Koki! But Sae isn’t the only girl who does… The question is, who does Koki have feelings for?!

Now that Sae knows Koki has a crush on someone, she tries to transform her romantic feelings for him into platonic ones. Luckily, there are lots of school activities to distract her, from a field trip in the mountains to a jump rope tournament to an English-language theater festival. But when a texting disaster reveals to Koki that Sae has a crush on someone too, will she finally confess her feelings…?

When Sae comes to a friend’s defense, Koki ends up defending Sae’s reputation…with his fists. In the infirmary, Sae meets Subaru, a charming girl who might be Koki’s secret crush. Meanwhile, some of Sae’s friends think she’s dating shy Yota. Appearances can be deceiving, especially when emotions are running high…

Sae vows to confess her feelings to Koki at the school festival but ends up spending more quality time with Yota than the object of her affections. Finally, she and Koki are alone together decorating an exhibit with glow-in-the-dark stars. But when the class project goes awry and Sae heads off to get new supplies, it’s Yota who runs after her…

The school festival’s closing fireworks show is the perfect romantic setting for Sae and Koki to come clean about their feelings. But will either of them have the guts? Then, Yota invites Koki to play shogi and interrogates him about his relationship with Sae…

The news that Sae and Koki are dating spreads like wildfire through the school, but not everyone is on board. When their friend group becomes a study group and two members find they have a lot in common, another gets jealous. Then, Christmastime arrives, and everyone has an opinion on what Sae and Koki should gift each other. Will they choose wisely…?

Romantic Christmas plans threaten to go awry when soccer team practice dominates Koki’s free time. Then, a rumor about the team’s reputation for putting the moves on girls gets under Sae’s skin. Plus, Sui gives chocolate to the boy she likes on Valentine’s Day. Will he take the bait?
